There is an old and yet effective way to train for a new career when an individual participate in an apprenticeship. This type of training is referred to as an apprenticeship and can be used for a range of career fields including those in the building trades. Electrical Training
There are electrical apprenticeship programs in Wyoming. For example there is an apprenticeship program offered though the National Electrical Contractors Association as well as the Local Unions #414 and #322. The apprenticeship will make it possible for individuals to gain the skills they need to work in electrical careers. Apprentices will receive an income and will also be provided with the required classroom training. Apprentices will need to complete 8000 hours of training on the job. The apprenticeship will last for four years.

Individuals can train for careers in carpentry by receiving on the job training for several years. Apprentices will also need to take classroom courses and these courses will be paid for by the sponsoring employer. They will explore and learn about many different skills and duties carried out by individuals who work as carpenters. Participants in the apprenticeship will learn to work in many different settings.
Ironworkers
There are opportunities for individuals who want to train for the Iron Industry. Apprenticeship programs are offered through the Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committees. There is currently a multi-state Iron Workers union that is providing ironworker’s apprenticeship. The Wyoming office for this division is in Casper, Wyoming. Individuals who are interested in this apprenticeship program must take testing and reach a certain score for acceptance into the program. Those who are accepted as apprentices will receive on the job training. They will also be provided with over 200 hours of classroom instruction related to the field each year
Laborer’s International Union of North America
There are apprenticeship programs offered through the Laborer’s International Union of North America and sponsoring employers. Laborers are considered to be those who learn to perform both non-skilled and semi-skilled tasks for an employer. They often work for construction companies and other companies related to the building trades. A laborer apprentice will receive an income while they are training. They can also be required to take various classes as part of the apprenticeship program.
Child Care Development Specialist Apprenticeship Program
This program is for child care development specialists. Individuals in this apprenticeship program will receive on the job training as well as classes required to complete the apprenticeship for this career. The program is offered through the Wyoming Children’s Action Alliance. This apprenticeship is located in Cheyenne Wyoming and is a good option for those who wish to work in the childcare development industry.
