The CNA training Program is among 26 programs at the college for which students might qualify for the Hope Career Grant if they are already receiving the Hope Grant. Students will need to be in good academic standing for both grants. They must be US citizens or a qualifying non-citizen. The student must be an official resident of the state Of Georgia.
Students will need to have submitted their application paperwork and fee to the college before they can be considered for the grant. They must have also submitted their high school transcript and applicable testing scores. If you are interested in this grant, you will need to apply for financial aid. This includes filling out the federal aid form in addition to all forms required by Ogeechee Technical college.
Please keep in mind that the amount of grant you receive will depend on the number of credits you are taking in the semester. Even so, between the Hope Grant and the Hope Career Grant, you should be able to receive enough to cover the cost of your CNA training course.

The grant is for students who have very good academic grades and performance. This scholarship is based on merit rather than need. Students will need to always maintain a great grade point average while completing their training to continue receiving this award.
This award is renewable with further awards being available at new quarters. The amount received will depend on the number of clock hours or credit hours. A student cannot receive help covering any coursework that must be repeated during their course of study.
Students will need to contact the financial aid office to officially apply for this scholarship. There will be paperwork and verification materials that must be filled out. There are other scholarships available through the school as well. Some are based on merit and others are based on the financial need of the student.
Southeast Georgia Health System

In 2022 Southeast Georgia HealthSystem started offering a free CNA course. It helps to meet a growing need for highly qualified certified nursing assistants in their healthcare system.
This is a 4 week course. Classes are Monday through Thursday. There are day and evening options. It is very fast paced. You will need to be motivated and pay close attention. Try not to miss any sessions at all.

You should be able to show that you have a low income and that you are looking to improve your life. You will even receive job placement help upon graduation. It will be necessary to demonstrate that you are able to do the coursework. You must be 18 and pass a criminal background check. A drug test can also be required. You will need to obtain your CPR Certification.
Be prepared for a rather short but rigorous training class. You will learn all the skills you need to practice safely and effectively in your scope as a certified nursing assistant. The class will teach you to help patients with transfers, walking, toileting, bathing, grooming, dressing and eating. You will learn to document notes and take and record vital signs.

The Tender Care Training Center offers a nursing assistant training program that costs $460. This does not include the exam fee. Both day and evening classes are available and the program will take about six weeks to complete. They offer classes frequently throughout a calendar year.
This CNA training program includes 42 hours of clinical practice. During that time students will learn to provide basic nursing care and patience assistance. The students will be well supervised and can find help whenever it is needed. The program also offers the necessary classroom instructions to provide students with the basic fundamentals they need to work as a certified nursing assistant.
Students will be trained by well qualified staff. The school has been in business since 2001 and is well experienced in providing entry level healthcare training to students from all walks of life.

Exam Requirements
To sit for the CNA exam, you must first have completed one of the training programs found here:

These programs include classroom work and supervised clinical experience. You must finish all coursework with a satisfactory score before you can take the exam.

The certification exam includes a skills test and a written/oral test. Both parts must have satisfactory completion for you to receive certification. You can retake the test if you do not receive a passing score. You must take exam within one year of having finished the state approved training class.
You will not know what nursing assistant skills you will be tested on during the exam. The skills will be selected at random for you to go through to be evaluated by the testing instructor.

Out of State CNAs

As long as you have worked as a CNA at least 8 hours in 2 years, you will not need to take the CNA exam. The only exception to this would be if it is determined that the training or examination in your state was not equal to that of the training and/or exam given in the state of Georgia.
