You can work in the healthcare industry by training as a phlebotomist. You will learn to draw blood for lab collections for patients in healthcare settings. Free Phlebotomy training programs are available. There are no specific certification requirements in Florida. However, you are more likely to gain employment if you have completed a training program and have become certified. Otherwise you will need to receive on the job training.
You can contact employers in your area to determine if any hire individuals to work in the area of phlebotomy before they have received certifications. There are some employers who will pay for you to complete training and receive certification. It will then be necessary for you to work for the employer that paid for your training for a previously agreed upon amount of time.
Talk to the Department of Public Welfare if you are currently a low-income individual or family. You should especially contact the department if you are receiving cash benefits or other types of public assistance benefits. There is the possibility that you will be able to receive some help to pay for you to train for a new and productive career.
