The phlebotomy training program at Southeast Arkansas College lasts for an entire semester.  Students will receive the information they need to carry out the duties required of phlebotomy technicians. They will receive hands on training to learn to properly draw blood and collect specimens.   Students will be prepared to draw blood from individuals of all ages including pediatric and geriatric patients.  Phlebotomy is just one of many career training programs offered at Southeast Arkansas College.  This college first started out as the Arkansas Vocational-Technical School in 1959.  The school changed names a couple different times over the past few decades.  What has not changed is the quality vocational and technical education provided.

National Park Community College

National Park Community College offers a 34 credit hour phlebotomy training program.  The program requires students to take various courses.  Some examples include:  English Composition, Math, Biology and Anatomy & Physiology in addition to the career specific classes.  It is necessary for students to receive a C or better in each of their courses.  There is also a clinical component to the training program.  Individuals who are interested in this training course must first contact the program director who can be reached at 501‐760‐4130.  The college charges tuition of $73 per credit hour for country residents and $83 for those who live outside of the county.

Philips Community College provides phlebotomy training that lasts for two semesters and covers 28 semester hours.  The program is for individuals who are looking for a comprehensive program.  This training program provides students with the theory instruction and hands on training needed to begin an entry-level career in Phlebotomy.  Some of the courses students must complete include:  Med Terminology, Anatomy and Physiology, Phlebotomy Procedures and Special Phlebotomy Techniques.  This college has several different campus locations. They specialize in providing affordable education for two year degrees and other certifications.  The Phlebotomy program is among some of the best offered in the area.
